KARA LEIGH MILLER--A QUIET VALENTINE

Hello, Kara. Welcome back. I see you have a new
book for us today.

Please tell us why you will have a quiet Valentine's Day this year.

Valentine's Day is a day of love--A day to show your significant other just how much you love them and how much they mean to you. I'm a firm believer that the newer the love the better the Valentine's Day. Does this make me a skeptic? Maybe. But I've been with my husband for ten years and we've been married for five of those ten years. Sure, we still celebrate Valentine's Day, but it's more reserved and quiet. We'll exchange gifts and go out to dinner. It's simple and I'm okay with that.
This year, however, I will be spending Valentine's Day alone because my husband is an over-the-road trucker and he won't be home.

I know he'll make it up to me on the weekend, but it's still not the same as having him here on Valentine's Day. It was this realization (and sadness) that was my inspiration for my newest release, Valentine Voyeur, which isn't your typical Valentine's Day story of love. Allow me to explain…

For the past three years, Detective Greg Markson has spent his Valentine's Days chasing the Valentine Voyeur, who always seems to be one step ahead of the police. This year was no different—Until Greg comes face-to-face with Alexandra Brooks: the younger sister of his former best friend and partner. Greg has always wanted to ask her out, but fears she blames him for the accident that left her brother paralyzed. But when he has a second chance encounter with her, and she invites him to a Valentine's Day costume party, he simply can't refuse. It's the chance he's always wanted. But will he be able to get over his own guilt long enough to find love? And will he be able to stop the Valentine Voyeur before he strikes again?

Author Bio: Born and raised in the small town of Mexico, New York, Kara was an only child who was forced to find ways to entertain herself. Playing make believe with her Barbie dolls and stuffed animals was her first real taste of storytelling before she became old enough to develop a love affair with the written word.
In early 2010, Kara picked up her very first erotic romance novel, and she was instantly hooked. She loves to write contemporary romance, erotica, and young adult romance. Currently she has several full-length novels in the works, a series of novellas, and a handful of short stories. Kara is an active member of the CNY Creative Writers Café and the CNY Romance Writers.

Today, Kara resides in New Haven, New York with her husband, five kids, and three cats. When she's not reading or writing, she's thinking about reading and writing. And when she's not doing that, she's spending time with her family and friends.

  1. Kara, you're right that Valentine's Day isn't celebrated with champagne and strawberries and/or fireworks after many years, but quiet does not mean a lack of love. My husband and I will celebrate 42 years married in May and we still have fun on Valentine's day. We may not go in for traditional gifts--last year I got him a gift certificate to go indoor skydiving--but it's still fun to think up appropriate gifts. We never have any trouble conveying our love for each other!

  2. I'm definitely in for a nice and quiet Valentine's (the trick is to see if hubby even remembers the day!). Honestly, it's not my favorite holiday and kind of one that I feel gets really overdone at times...

(And Lorrie, you might want to check out my post: http://meradethhouston.blogspot.com/2013/02/science-sunday-adaptations-giveaway.html)

    1. The link doesn't work, Meradeth. I tried.

Kara may be one of those without electricity for a while. Nemo hit them hard.
I'm sure she would have joined us if she could.
      Take care, Kara.

  3. Hi, Ladies! Yes, we were hit by Nemo and were snowed in. We lost heat, but thankfully didn't lose power. Oh, and I was also sick all weekend. So sorry for not checking in sooner.

Lorrie, if you have these lovely ladies email addresses I'd be happy to send them each a copy of The Valentine Voyeur =)
